Lying Prone W to Y

Face down on the floor, lift the arms in a W, then reach them overhead into a Y while they stay off the floor, and pull them back into the W.

How to do it

Setup

Lying face down, elbows bent, hands beside the head in a W, thumbs up, forehead resting down.

Steps

  1. Lift the arms off the floor in the W.
  2. Reach them overhead into a Y, thumbs leading, still lifted.
  3. Pull back into the W, then lower to the floor.

Common mistakes

Arms dropping as they reach overhead: the Y is the hardest point; keep them lifted. Lower back arching to lift higher: hips pressed to the floor. Elbows flaring above the shoulders in the W: keep them just below.

Breathing

Exhale lifting, inhale lowering.
