Squat to Overhead Reach with Twist

The squat to overhead reach that turns to one side at the top, the back foot pivoting; alternate the side.

How to do it

Setup

Feet shoulder-width, hands together in front of the chest.

Steps

  1. Squat deep, chest up.
  2. Stand and reach overhead, turning to one side and pivoting the back foot.
  3. Turn back to the front as you squat again; twist the other way next time.

Common mistakes

Twisting the knee instead of pivoting the foot: the back foot turns with the hips. Turning while still in the squat: stand first, then turn. Twisting to the same side every rep: alternate.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale on the twist.
