Squat Side Kick

A bodyweight squat that finishes with a side kick: stand up, swing one leg out to hip height, drop into the next squat.

How to do it

Setup

Feet shoulder-width, hands clasped at the chest.

Steps

  1. Squat until the thighs are near parallel.
  2. Stand and kick one leg straight out to the side.
  3. Land it back in the stance and squat; alternate.

Common mistakes

Leaning the torso away to kick higher: hip height, chest up. Landing the foot narrow: back to shoulder-width every rep. Heels lifting in the squat: sit back into them.

Breathing

Exhale on the kick, inhale into the squat.
