Split-Stance Single-Leg Calf Raise
A half-kneeling calf raise, front knee at about 90° and the front heel rising; the bent knee puts the soleus in charge.
How to do it
Setup
Half-kneeling, back knee on a mat, front shin vertical, hands on the hips.
Steps
- Lift the front heel as high as it goes.
- Keep the torso tall and the back knee down.
- Lower slowly; switch sides after the set.
Common mistakes
Rocking the hips forward to lift the heel: only the ankle moves. Front knee drifting in: keep it over the middle toes. Small lifts: the heel travels its full height.
Breathing
Exhale rising, inhale lowering.
