Standing Bent-Knee Alternating Calf Raise with a Chair Support

The chair-supported bent-knee calf raise one leg at a time: one foot lifts behind, the other rises, sides swap each rep.

How to do it

Setup

Hands on a chair back, feet hip-width, knees softly bent.

Steps

  1. Lift one foot behind and rise on the other.
  2. Lower, set the lifted foot down, and switch.
  3. Keep the same knee bend on every rep.

Common mistakes

Leaning the chest over the chair: stay upright; it only steadies. Standing knee straightening: the bend stays. Switching in a rush: finish each rise first.

Breathing

Exhale rising, inhale lowering.
