Spell Caster
Standing with a dumbbell in each hand, sweep both bells from beside one hip up in an arc over the head and down to the other hip; the trunk turns with them.
How to do it
Setup
Standing, feet wider than the hips, knees soft, a light dumbbell in each hand beside one hip.
Steps
- Sweep both bells up across the body and over the head.
- Carry them down in the same arc to beside the other hip.
- Reverse the arc back to the first hip; keep the feet planted.
Common mistakes
Bells too heavy for the arc: take light ones; the arms stay long. Arching the lower back as the bells pass overhead: brace and keep the ribs down. Feet turning with the swing: keep them planted; the waist turns.
Breathing
Exhale on each arc, inhale at the bottom.
