Kettlebell Wood Chop
Holding one kettlebell in both hands, chop it from above one shoulder down across the body to the outside of the opposite knee, then lift it back along the same line.
How to do it
Setup
Feet wider than the shoulders, the bell held by the handle in both hands above one shoulder.
Steps
- Chop the bell down and across, bending the knees as it drops.
- Pivot the foot on the starting side as the hips turn.
- Lift the bell back up the diagonal with control.
Common mistakes
Chopping with a rounded back at the bottom: bend the knees and keep the chest long. Letting the bell pull you off balance: lighter bell, wider stance. Arms doing the work: the trunk turns, and the arms only carry the bell.
Breathing
Exhale on the chop, inhale returning.
