Standing Torso Twist Arms Swing

Standing, turn the torso from side to side and let the loose arms swing around the body; a warm-up at an easy rhythm.

How to do it

Setup

Standing, feet a little wider than the hips, knees soft, arms hanging loose.

Steps

  1. Turn the shoulders to one side and let the arms swing and wrap around the body.
  2. Swing back through the middle to the other side in one flowing motion.
  3. Build the range gradually and keep the rhythm easy.

Common mistakes

Flinging the arms hard at the end of the turn: let them fall around the body, never snap. Stiff, braced arms: keep them loose like ropes. Hunching forward as the arms swing: keep the chest open and the head level.

Breathing

Steady with the rhythm.
