Smith Machine Standing Back Wrist Curl

The behind-the-back wrist curl in the Smith machine, the bar running in its rails behind the hips.

How to do it

Setup

Standing in front of the Smith bar, bar behind the hips, palms facing back, arms long.

Steps

  1. Unhook the bar with a small turn of the wrists.
  2. Flex the wrists so the bar rises along the rails.
  3. Hook it back on when the set ends.

Common mistakes

Standing too far from the bar: it pulls the arms back; stand close. Leaning forward: upright torso. Elbows bending to help: straight arms.

Breathing

Exhale on the curl, inhale lowering.
