Smith Machine Reverse-Grip Bent-Over Row
The Smith-machine bent-over row with the bar held underhand; the fixed path and the palms-up grip keep the elbows tight to the ribs.
How to do it
Setup
Bar on the rails at knee height, hinged to about 45°, underhand grip at shoulder width.
Steps
- Row the bar to the belly along the rails.
- Keep the wrists straight and the elbows close.
- Lower to long arms without losing the angle.
Common mistakes
Curling the bar with the arms: the elbows lead. Standing too far back: the bar should meet the belly on the rails' line. Rising out of the hinge: the angle holds.
Breathing
Exhale on the pull, inhale lowering.
