Sit-Up
The full sit-up with the hands behind the head: knees bent and heels down, curl all the way up to an upright torso, then roll back to the floor.
How to do it
Setup
Lying on the back, knees bent, heels on the floor, fingers laced behind the head.
Steps
- Lift the shoulders and keep rising until you sit upright.
- Keep the heels down and the hands only resting on the head.
- Roll back down one vertebra at a time.
Common mistakes
Pulling on the head to get up: the hands rest; the abs do the lifting. Heels lifting off the floor: slow the curl, or anchor the feet while learning. Flopping back onto the floor: roll down under control; the roll protects the back.
Breathing
Exhale sitting up, inhale rolling down.
