Side Push-Up with Towel
A push-up in which one hand rests on a towel and slides out to the side as you lower on the other arm, then slides back in as you press up.
How to do it
Setup
High plank on a smooth floor, one hand under the shoulder, the other on a folded towel beside it.
Steps
- Slide the towel hand out to the side while lowering on the other arm.
- Keep the sliding arm long; it steadies while the bent arm presses.
- Press up and pull the towel hand back under the shoulder; switch sides after the set.
Common mistakes
Sliding further than you can pull back: stop while the hand still returns. Hips twisting toward the sliding side: brace and keep them square. Towel on carpet: it needs a smooth floor to glide.
Breathing
Inhale lowering, exhale pressing.
