Shrimp Squat

A single-leg squat with the free leg bent behind you, lowering until its knee touches the floor; the arms reach forward as the counterweight.

How to do it

Setup

Standing on one leg, the other knee bent with its foot behind, the arms reaching forward.

Steps

  1. Bend the standing knee and lower slowly.
  2. Touch the back knee lightly to the floor.
  3. Stand up through the whole standing foot.

Common mistakes

Dropping onto the back knee: touch and go, never land on it. Standing knee caving: keep it over the toes. Pushing off the back foot: it never touches the floor.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale up.
