Rear Lunge from Deficit
The reverse lunge from a low step: the back foot steps down to the floor, so the back knee sinks lower and the front hip works through a longer range.
How to do it
Setup
Standing tall on a low step, hands on the hips.
Steps
- Step one foot back off the step and down to the floor.
- Sink until the back knee hovers just above the floor.
- Drive through the front heel to stand back up on the step.
Common mistakes
Stepping back too short: the deficit only pays with a long step. Front knee collapsing inward on the deeper descent: track it over the toes. Pushing off the back foot: the front leg lifts you.
Breathing
Inhale stepping back, exhale returning.
