Narrow Squat from Deficit
A bodyweight squat with the feet close together and the heels on a raised wedge; the knees travel far forward and the fronts of the thighs do most of the work.
How to do it
Setup
Feet close together, heels on a low wedge or step edge, hands on the hips.
Steps
- Bend the knees forward over the toes, torso upright.
- Sink until the backs of the thighs rest on the calves.
- Stand up without letting the heels leave the wedge.
Common mistakes
Knees caving in the narrow stance: keep them together and pointing ahead. Heels lifting off the wedge: the weight stays over the whole foot. Torso folding forward: stay tall; the raised heels allow it.
Breathing
Inhale down, exhale up.
