Seated Pull-Up (Low Bar Position)
The seated pull-up with the bar set lower, so the hips start off the floor with the body already leaning back; closer to an inverted row than the standard seated pull-up.
How to do it
Setup
Seated under a bar set lower than straight-arm reach, hips lifted, legs long with the heels down, overhand grip shoulder-width.
Steps
- Pull the chest to the bar with the body straight.
- Hold the top for a beat.
- Lower until the arms are straight, hips still off the floor.
Common mistakes
Sitting down between reps: the hips stay up for the whole set. Bending at the waist to reach the bar: one line from heels to head. Neck straining toward the bar: the chest leads.
Breathing
Exhale on the pull, inhale on the way down.
