Seated Hamstring Stretch on a Chair

On the front edge of a chair, one leg straight with the toes up, hinge forward until the back of the thigh stretches.

How to do it

Setup

On the chair's front edge, one leg straight, heel down, toes up.

Steps

  1. Sit tall and hinge forward from the hips.
  2. Stop where the back of the thigh stretches.
  3. Hold and breathe, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Rounding the back to reach the toes: lead with the chest. Letting the straight knee bend: keep it long and lean less. Pushing into pain: ease back to a gentle pull.

Breathing

Exhale into the lean, then breathe evenly in the hold.
