Seated Barbell Wrist Extension

Seated and leaning over a flat bench with the forearms resting on it, palms down, lift the backs of the hands against the bar.

How to do it

Setup

Seated, leaning forward, forearms flat on the bench pad, hands over the edge, bar held palms down.

Steps

  1. Let the knuckles sink toward the floor.
  2. Lift the backs of the hands as high as the wrists allow.
  3. Keep the forearms pressed to the pad throughout.

Common mistakes

Loading it like the palms-up curl: the extensors take far less; go light. Forearms lifting off the pad: keep them pressed so only the wrists move. Rushing the reps: the small extensors want slow lifts and slower lowers.

Breathing

Exhale lifting, inhale lowering.
