Seated Alternate Crunch
Seated on the edge of a bench and leaning back on the hands, one knee at a time draws in as the chest sits up to meet it.
How to do it
Setup
Seated on the side of a flat bench, hands on it behind the hips, torso leaning back, legs long in front.
Steps
- Draw one knee to the chest as the torso comes up.
- Push the leg long again as you lean back.
- Switch legs each rep.
Common mistakes
Knee coming in while the chest stays back: the torso rises to meet it; that is the crunch. Rocking the whole body: keep the hips planted on the bench. Hands too far back: set them just behind the hips so the chest stays up.
Breathing
Exhale drawing the knee in, inhale extending.
