Reverse Push-Up

A push-up with the fingers turned back toward the feet; the turned hands pin the elbows to the ribs.

How to do it

Setup

High plank, hands by the lower ribs, fingers pointing toward the feet.

Steps

  1. Lower the chest, elbows sliding straight back.
  2. Keep the weight spread over the whole palm.
  3. Push the floor away to straight arms.

Common mistakes

Rushing into it: the wrists need time; start on the knees. Hands too far forward: set them by the lower ribs so the elbows bend straight back. Hips sagging: brace as in any push-up.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale pressing.
