Resistance Band Standing Side Leg Raise

The standing hip abduction against a mini loop band around the shins; the band pulls the working leg back toward the other, so the side of the hip works through the whole range.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall beside a support, a hand on it, a mini loop band around both shins, weight on one leg.

Steps

  1. Lift the free leg out to the side against the band, knee straight.
  2. Hold the top without leaning away.
  3. Lower the leg slowly back beside the other; finish the side, switch.

Common mistakes

Leaning the torso away to lift higher: stay upright; the band sets the range. Hip turning out so the toes point sideways: square the hip and face the foot forward. Snapping the leg back in: resist the band on the way down.

Breathing

Exhale lifting, inhale lowering.
