Resistance Band Standing Balance Hip Abduction

The standing hip abduction with a looped band above the knees and no support to hold, so the standing leg has to balance as the other lifts.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, hands on the hips, a looped band just above the knees, weight on one leg.

Steps

  1. Lift the straight free leg out to the side against the band.
  2. Hold for a beat with the pelvis level.
  3. Lower it slowly to hover beside the standing leg; switch after the set.

Common mistakes

Hip hiking on the lifting side: the leg lifts, the pelvis stays level. Leaning away from the leg: stand tall. Foot turning out: point the toes forward.

Breathing

Exhale lifting, inhale lowering.
