Resistance Band Standing Balance Bent Leg Hip Abduction

Balancing on one leg, open the other, bent knee out to the side against a looped band; the standing hip works to keep you steady.

How to do it

Setup

Standing on one leg, hands on the hips, the other knee bent with the foot off the floor, a looped band around the ankles.

Steps

  1. Open the bent leg out to the side against the band.
  2. Keep the pelvis level and the torso upright.
  3. Return slowly without touching down; switch after the set.

Common mistakes

Leaning over the standing leg: stay tall; the hips do the work. Standing knee caving in: push it out over the toes. Rushing: slow reps, steady balance.

Breathing

Exhale lifting, inhale lowering.
