Resistance Band Side Plank Glute Raise

From lying on one forearm with a band above the knees, lift the hips into a side plank as the top leg rises against the band.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on one side on the forearm, elbow under the shoulder, legs straight and stacked, a loop band just above the knees, top hand on the hip.

Steps

  1. Lift the hips into a side plank and raise the top leg against the band.
  2. Hold the line from the head to the bottom foot for a beat.
  3. Lower the leg and the hips together under control.

Common mistakes

Top leg drifting forward: lift it straight up in line with the body. Hips rising without the leg, or the leg without the hips: they rise together. Shoulder sinking over the elbow: push the floor away.

Breathing

Exhale on the lift, inhale lowering.
