Resistance Band Standing Hip Abduction

In a quarter squat with a looped band above the knees, press the knees apart and let them back in, the feet planted throughout.

How to do it

Setup

Feet hip-width, a looped band just above the knees, hips back in a quarter squat, hands together at the chest.

Steps

  1. Push both knees out against the band.
  2. Hold the spread for a beat, feet flat.
  3. Let the knees return to hip-width, not past it.

Common mistakes

Standing up between reps: stay in the quarter squat. Feet rolling to their edges: the whole foot on the floor. Knees collapsing inward on the return: stop at hip-width.

Breathing

Exhale pressing apart, inhale returning.
