Quick Sumo Squat

Quick, shallow squats in an extra-wide stance with the toes turned out, the hips bobbing a short way without standing up.

How to do it

Setup

Feet well wider than the shoulders, toes turned out, arms hanging, sunk into a half squat.

Steps

  1. Drop a hand's width lower, the knees pushing out over the toes.
  2. Rise back to the half squat without straightening the legs.
  3. Keep the pulses quick and even for the whole set.

Common mistakes

Standing up between pulses: stay in the half squat. Knees caving as the pace rises: push them out over the toes. Leaning the chest forward: keep the trunk upright between the legs.

Breathing

Fast steady rhythm.
