Pilates Machine Arm Circle
Kneeling upright on a Pilates reformer holding the straps, the straight arms circle up in front and round to the sides and down, the carriage kept still.
How to do it
Setup
Kneeling upright on the carriage with the back to the pulleys, a strap in each hand, arms by the sides.
Steps
- Raise the straight arms forward and up to shoulder height against the straps.
- Circle them out to the sides and down to the start.
- Reverse the circles after the set, the trunk still.
Common mistakes
Arching the back as the arms lift: ribs down, the trunk stays tall. Bending the elbows: keep the arms long. Rocking the carriage: kneel still and move only the arms.
Breathing
Exhale raising the arms, inhale circling down.
