Pike Push-Up, illustrated

How to do it

Setup

Hips high in an inverted V, hands shoulder-width, heels reaching down.

Steps

  1. Lower the crown of the head toward the floor between the hands.
  2. Elbows track back-ish, not flared wide.
  3. Press back to the pike.

Common mistakes

Hips dropping into a push-up: the V holds; this is a SHOULDER press. Head reaching forward: crown to the floor, near the hands. Short range: head touches or it is a partial.

Breathing

Inhale lowering, exhale pressing.
