Olympic Barbell Hammer Curl
The hammer curl with a loaded bar that has parallel handles inside its frame, so both hands curl it thumbs up.
How to do it
Setup
Standing, the parallel handles of the bar gripped palms facing, arms long, elbows at the sides.
Steps
- Lift the bar until the plates reach shoulder height.
- Keep the bar level from end to end.
- Lower it to the thighs without a bounce.
Common mistakes
Bar tipping to one side: the hands share the load; keep it level. Leaning back to finish: the heavy ends swing; lighten it. Letting the plates swing on the way down: lower slowly so the bar stays level.
Breathing
Exhale on the curl, inhale lowering.
