Neck Extensor Stretch
Sitting or standing tall, the hands laced on the back of the head ease the chin toward the chest until the back of the neck lengthens; held for time.
How to do it
Setup
Seated or standing tall, shoulders down, fingers laced on the back of the head near the crown.
Steps
- Let the weight of the hands tip the head forward.
- Draw the chin toward the chest until the back of the neck stretches, and hold.
- Release the hands and lift the head slowly.
Common mistakes
Yanking the head down: the hands only add their weight; no sudden pulls. Shoulders creeping up: drop them so the neck can lengthen. Rounding the whole back to reach: the neck bends, the trunk stays tall.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
