Roll Ball Upper Trapezius Release
Bent forward, the top of one shoulder presses a massage ball into an upright post, and small moves work the upper trapezius between the neck and the shoulder.
How to do it
Setup
Hinged forward beside a sturdy upright post, a massage ball between the post and the top of one shoulder, both hands holding the post.
Steps
- Lean into the post until the ball presses the top of the shoulder.
- Shift the body in small moves between the neck and the point of the shoulder.
- Pause on a tender spot and breathe until it eases, then switch sides.
Common mistakes
Ball on the collarbone or the neck: keep it on the muscle on top of the shoulder. Pushing with the arms to press harder: let the body lean in gently. Holding the breath: breathe slowly and let the shoulder sink over the ball.
Breathing
Steady throughout; never held.
