Roll Ball Trapezius Upper
A massage ball held against a wall by the top of the shoulder, where it meets the neck; bending the knees rolls it along the upper trapezius.
How to do it
Setup
Standing with the back to a wall, feet a step out, the ball between the wall and the top of one shoulder.
Steps
- Lean back into the ball and let the shoulder relax onto it.
- Bend and straighten the knees a little so it rolls along the top of the shoulder.
- Pause on a tender spot and breathe until it eases, then switch sides.
Common mistakes
Ball on the neck or the collarbone: keep it on the muscle between them. Shrugging the shoulder up into the ball: let it hang down. Carrying on through tingling in the arm: move off the spot.
Breathing
Steady throughout; never held.
