Neck Extensor and Rotational Stretch

One hand on the back of the head guides it down and to that side, the chin toward the same shoulder, stretching the back and the far side of the neck; held for time.

How to do it

Setup

Seated or standing tall, one hand resting on the back of the head near the crown, the other arm relaxed.

Steps

  1. Guide the head down and toward the same-side shoulder, chin leading.
  2. Stop where the back and far side of the neck pull, and hold.
  3. Bring the head up to the middle, then switch hands.

Common mistakes

Cranking the head with the arm: the hand guides, it does not pull. Shoulder rising to meet the chin: keep both shoulders down. Rushing from side to side: come back through the middle slowly.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
