Diagonal Flexion Neck Stretch

Standing with the arms hanging, the chin drops toward one armpit; the back of the neck on the other side lengthens without a hand pulling.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, feet hip-width, arms hanging loose, shoulders low.

Steps

  1. Turn the nose toward one armpit.
  2. Let the head drop along that line until the back of the neck on the other side pulls.
  3. Hold and breathe, then lift the head slowly and switch sides.

Common mistakes

Dropping the head straight forward: aim at the armpit; the diagonal is the stretch. Far shoulder creeping up: keep it heavy so the neck lengthens. Rounding the upper back to go lower: only the neck bends; the chest stays up.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
