Lying Neck Extensor Stretch
The neck extensor stretch lying on the back, where the laced hands lift the head toward the chest and the floor keeps the shoulders down; held for time.
How to do it
Setup
Lying on the back, knees bent, feet flat, fingers laced behind the head.
Steps
- Lift the head with the hands, the shoulders staying on the floor.
- Let the hands carry the chin toward the chest until the nape pulls, then hold.
- Lower the head slowly back to the floor.
Common mistakes
Shoulders peeling off the floor: only the head rises. Crunching up with the neck muscles: let the arms do the lifting. Pulling hard on the head: a slow, gentle lift to a comfortable stretch.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
