Medicine Ball Single-Leg Wood Chop
Standing on one leg, chop a medicine ball from above one shoulder down across the body toward the outside of the standing knee; balance is half the work.
How to do it
Setup
Standing on one leg, knee soft, the ball in both hands above the opposite shoulder.
Steps
- Chop the ball down across the body toward the outside of the standing knee.
- Bend the standing knee and hinge a little as the ball drops.
- Rise and lift the ball back up the diagonal; switch legs after the set.
Common mistakes
Standing knee caving inward as you chop: keep it over the toes. Hopping to catch the balance: slow the chop until the foot stays put. Rounding the back at the bottom: hinge with a long chest.
Breathing
Exhale on the chop, inhale returning.
