Marching on Spot

March on the spot, lifting each knee to about hip height with the opposite arm swinging; a low-impact warm-up.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, feet hip-width, elbows bent at the sides.

Steps

  1. Lift one knee toward hip height as the opposite arm swings forward.
  2. Set the foot down softly and lift the other knee.
  3. Keep a steady marching rhythm, chest tall.

Common mistakes

Leaning back to lift the knees: stay tall. Stomping: place each foot down softly. Arms hanging still: swing them in opposition.

Breathing

Steady with the steps.
