Side Mountain Climber
The mountain climber with each knee driven forward low beside the same-side arm while the trunk turns toward it; the obliques take more of the work.
How to do it
Setup
High plank on straight arms, hands under the shoulders, feet hip-width.
Steps
- Drive one knee forward beside the same-side arm, letting the trunk turn toward it.
- Switch legs at a running pace, the other knee to its own side.
- Keep the hands planted and the shoulders over them.
Common mistakes
Knee swinging out wide: that is the spider climber; drive it forward along the arm. Feet slapping the floor: land light on the balls of the feet. Shoulders drifting behind the hands: keep them stacked over the wrists.
Breathing
Steady rhythm with the legs; never held.
