Machine Standing Chest Press

The chest press standing against the machine's upright back pad; without a seat, the feet and a braced trunk hold the body still.

How to do it

Setup

Standing on the platform, back against the upright pad, handles at chest height, feet hip-width.

Steps

  1. Press the handles forward until the arms are straight.
  2. Keep the back and hips against the pad.
  3. Return to chest height with control.

Common mistakes

Stepping away from the pad to lean into the press: stay against it. Knees locked hard: keep them soft. Hands drifting down toward the belly: press at chest height.

Breathing

Exhale pressing, inhale returning.
