Kettlebell Deep Push-Up

The push-up with the hands on the handles of two upright kettlebells; the taller handles let the chest drop well below the hands.

How to do it

Setup

Two kettlebells upright under the shoulders, a hand on each handle, wrists straight, body in a plank.

Steps

  1. Lower the chest between the bells below the level of the handles.
  2. Keep the bells still and the wrists stacked over them.
  3. Press back up to straight arms.

Common mistakes

Bells tipping over: press straight down through the handles, not sideways. Using light bells that rock: heavier bells stand firmer. Diving deeper than the shoulders allow: stop at a comfortable stretch.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale on the press.
