Machine Lateral Wide Pulldown
The wide-grip pulldown on a plate-loaded machine, the handles traveling down and out in a fixed arc.
How to do it
Setup
Seated with the thighs under the pads, chest tall, the handles taken wide at arm's length overhead.
Steps
- Start the pull by drawing the shoulder blades down.
- Pull the handles down to the upper chest, elbows toward the hips.
- Let the arms rise back to full reach under control.
Common mistakes
Leaning far back to heave the plates: stay tall, a lighter load. Stopping short of full reach: let the lats stretch at the top. Shrugging on the pull: blades down first.
Breathing
Exhale on the pull, inhale lowering.
