Machine Belt Sumo Deadlift (V-Bar)
The sumo deadlift on a belt squat machine: a wide stance with the toes out and a V-bar hanging between the legs from the lever.
How to do it
Setup
Wide stance on the platform, toes turned out, the V-bar held between the legs, hips low, chest up.
Steps
- Press the knees out and drive up, handle close to the body.
- Lock out by squeezing the glutes.
- Sit back down between the legs, knees still wide.
Common mistakes
Stance too narrow for sumo: feet wide enough that the handle drops between the knees. Knees collapsing toward the handle: press them out. Leaning forward over the lever: the wide stance lets the torso stay upright.
Breathing
Big breath and brace before the pull, exhale after lockout.
