Lying Tuck Crunch

From lying back with the legs long and the arms overhead, sit up into a tight tuck and hug the knees, then stretch back out.

How to do it

Setup

Reclined on the floor, legs straight, arms reaching overhead.

Steps

  1. Sit up and draw the knees to the chest in one move.
  2. Wrap the arms round the shins at the top.
  3. Release and stretch back out to the start under control.

Common mistakes

Flopping back to the floor: stretch out slowly; the way down matters as much as the way up. Pulling the knees in with the arms: the abs bring them; the arms only hug. Rounding the neck forward: keep the head in line as you rise.

Breathing

Exhale tucking in, inhale stretching out.
