Leg Raise Hip Lift

Lying on the back, raise the straight legs to vertical, then push the feet up so the hips lift off the floor, and lower both slowly.

How to do it

Setup

On the back on the floor, arms by the sides, palms down, legs long.

Steps

  1. Bring the straight legs up to vertical.
  2. Press the feet up so the hips leave the floor.
  3. Lower the hips, then the legs, stopping just above the floor.

Common mistakes

Swinging the legs to throw the hips up: the lift comes from the abs. Hips crashing back down: lower them slowly. Legs dropping to the floor between reps: stop them just above it.

Breathing

Exhale lifting the hips, inhale lowering.
