Jack Knife Sit-Up (Seated Tuck)

Balanced on the hips, stretch out long, then tuck the knees to the chest as the arms reach forward past them.

How to do it

Setup

Seated balanced on the hips, torso leaning back, legs long and just off the floor, arms reaching forward.

Steps

  1. Lean back and stretch the legs long, both hovering off the floor.
  2. Tuck the knees to the chest as the torso comes up, the arms reaching past the knees.
  3. Stretch out again without letting the feet or the shoulders touch down.

Common mistakes

Feet or shoulders resting on the floor between reps: the balance never breaks. Rounding the back hard to stay balanced: lift the chest and stay long through the spine. Rushing the tuck: slow out, slow in.

Breathing

Exhale tucking in, inhale stretching out.
