Lying Leg Hang Abductor Stretch
Lying on the side along a bench, the top knee bends and the leg drops off the front edge toward the floor; its weight stretches the outer hip.
How to do it
Setup
Lying on one side along a flat bench, the lower leg straight on it, the lower hand on the floor for balance.
Steps
- Bend the top knee and let the leg drop off the front edge of the bench.
- Keep the hips stacked so the weight of the leg stretches the outer hip.
- Hold and breathe, then lift the leg back and switch sides.
Common mistakes
Top hip rolling forward with the leg: keep it stacked over the lower one. Swinging the leg down: lower it slowly and let it hang. Lying on the very edge: keep the whole trunk on the bench and a hand on the floor.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
