Seated Knee Up Rotation Stretch

One leg long, the other knee drawn up, turn the chest toward the raised knee; the knee gives the arm a lever.

How to do it

Setup

On the floor, one leg straight, the other knee bent up with its foot flat, back tall.

Steps

  1. Brace the opposite arm against the raised knee.
  2. Turn the chest toward that knee, the free hand on the floor behind.
  3. Hold, then switch legs and turn the other way.

Common mistakes

Slumping to turn further: sit tall first, then turn. Wrenching on the knee: the arm steadies; the back does the turning. Straight leg rolling out: keep it long and still.

Breathing

Exhale into the turn, then breathe evenly in the hold.
