Assisted Oblique Glute Minimus and Medius Stretch

The lying cross-over twist with a partner: one hand keeps your shoulder down while the other eases the crossed knee toward the floor.

How to do it

Setup

On your back, arms out, one knee bent and crossed over the long leg, a partner kneeling on that side.

Steps

  1. Let the partner hold your shoulder on the floor.
  2. The partner eases the crossed knee down toward the floor.
  3. Say stop at the first clear stretch in the hip and the side.
  4. Hold and breathe, then switch sides.

Common mistakes

Shoulder lifting as the knee goes down: the partner holds it, or the knee stops higher. Partner pushing the knee in jerks: a slow, steady press only. Long leg rolling with the twist: keep it straight on the floor, toes up.

Breathing

Exhale into the turn, then breathe evenly in the hold.
