Lateral Side Plank (Bent Leg)

The side plank with the top knee bent and lifted out and up through the hold; a shorter lever.

How to do it

Setup

Forearm side plank, feet stacked, hips high.

Steps

  1. Bend the top knee and lift it out and up.
  2. Bring the foot back onto the bottom leg.
  3. Repeat for the time, hips high; switch sides.

Common mistakes

Rolling the chest down as the knee lifts: shoulders stacked. Hips dropping between lifts: keep the bridge high. Lifting the knee forward only: it goes out and up.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
