Lateral Side Plank

The forearm side plank with the top leg raised and lowered through the hold.

How to do it

Setup

Side plank on the forearm, feet stacked, hips lifted, free hand on the hip.

Steps

  1. Raise the top leg as high as the hips stay level.
  2. Lower it to the other leg without resting.
  3. Keep lifting until the time is up; then the other side.

Common mistakes

Hips sagging while the leg moves: the plank holds still. Top leg drifting forward: lift it straight up, toes forward. Shoulder creeping to the ear: push the floor away.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
